Le Gendarme de Saint-Tropez is a 1964 French comedy film starring Louis de Funès as Ludovic Cruchot, a highly ambitious and strict sergeant in the French Gendarmerie who is reassigned to the fashionable seaside resort of Saint-Tropez.
This film marked the beginning of a highly successful series of six films featuring the character of Cruchot.
